Drivin’ è uno strumento per combattere l’inquinamento, diminuire il traffico, favorire i trasporti pubblici e far risparmiare gli utenti dandoli anche la possibilità di aiutarsi a vicenda.

Drivin’ potrebbe essere una fantastica idea di business per una startup, ma siccome per adesso sono concentrato su Shopping in Italy, ho deciso di presentare l’idea durante l’Hackaton Code4Milano e pubblicare su Slideshare tutto il materiale prodotto finora.

Il cuore del progetto lo trovi nelle slide. Il resto l’ho già tutto in mente da tempo.

I work in digital communication and I’ve three different accounts that I use for my personal branding, for the Transport Company of Milan online buzz, and for the Shopping in Italy news hunting and social monitoring.

Is Google reader enough for me? No it isn’t!

For my job I need an application that browse, save, organize, discover, edit and share contents on my social media and with my social media team.
Does Google reader have all these feature? No it doesn’t, so stop crying and being romantic!

The Google Reader closure gave me the opportunity to think about my feed reader perfect tool. I thought to all my needs as a social media manager, as a project leader and as entrepreneur. Ironically I understood that I don’t need a simple reader, but a Corporate Content Aggregation and Management Application.

I could pay for it, but searching on the web I didn’t find anything useful, so I started designing it on my own.

What you’ll read is function list of an hybrid application that mixes a feed reader, an internal collaboration tool and a social media analysis system.

Following the functions list divided in main activities.

Content browsing

- Create folders
- Create special folders to save the contents
- Tag and colour feeds
- Activate single feed alerts
- Browse contents per tag, folders and specific contents (image only, link only, video only)
- Select the headline content preview
- Gesture to save, send, tag
- Selective contents update
- Highlight the read/unread contents of my teams

Content management

- Create teams
- Share feed, folders and tags with teams
- Post directly on WordPress (quoting the content and linking the source in a RTF editor)
- Share/Post on Tumblr
- Send via mail
- Share on social media (Twitter, Pinterest, Google+, LinkedIn etc..)
- Share on Facebook and Facebook pages
- Share and comment with your team
- Create a draft post where you can aggregate your text and feeds contents

Content discovering

- Add a feed

Obviously this application should be available for web and mobile, and obviously one of the most important feature should be the user centered design. Unfortunately I don’t have time to wireframe it, but I already have some ideas that mesh the Google Reader experience with Hootsuite and Windows 8 ones.

The application could have the classic fremium business model. The starting price should be lower than the Hootsuite one because world is full of content managers. 2 eur/month could be enough for the single use, while for the team use the price should depend from the team number.

That night I discovered by chance that the domain shoppinginitaly.eu was free, so indistinctly I bought it for 1.20 €.
After the first “big” investment I started thinking about the business models, the strategies, the technologies, the partnerships and so on.

Today, almost 10 months later, I’m ready to share with you my experience.

Shopping in Italy is the “Italian products selection by Antonio Patti”.
What does it mean? Why is it so self-referential?

The answer is in the three business models that I identified.

• selling products
• selling contents
• selling brand and network

Selling products
Shopping in Italy is an ecommerce where I put on sale Italian products that usually are not on sale anywhere in english. I personally search, select and take the pictures of the products. I put on sale only the products that I’d like to buy, and the first thing that I care about is quality.

Selling contents
On the Shopping in Italy Blog and on the social media I describe my vision of Italy. I mix original posts, videos and pictures with the best contents that I find on Internet.
I aggregate and analyze contents, I try to engage people that are interested in something Italian, and at last I try to find partners that publish anything interesting.

Selling brand and network
Products, contents, followers and relationships will create the Sii network. Shopping in Italy will be the first onf line project that will aggregate people, selected contents and local businesses through the web and the social media.

I built the Shopping in Italy business strategy around me for different reasons.
The first one is that I think that I’m able to aggregate and select both products and contents, and then because I think that just being me I can differentiate my shop from the others.

How I’ll manage everything?
That’s a secret that I’ll reveal you in the future when I’ll complete the first months of activity.

Consistent with Twitter’s evolving platform efforts, Tweets will no longer be displayed on LinkedIn starting later today.

Ryan wrote that this decision is due to the new Twitter strategies that focus on the “consumption experience” improvement.

The same day Michael Sippey wrote on the Twitter developer Blog:

we’re hard at work building tools that make it easy for developers to build common Twitter features into their own sites in a simple and consistent way.

This support the new expanded Tweets annouced on the 13th of June on the Twitter Blog. The new function consists on the embedding of external sites contents directly on the Twitter home feed. In this way users can read a full article of the NY Times or comment an exclusive WWE image directly on Twitter.

Obviously these expanded tweets are a revenue source for Twitter that is searching to find the right way to monetize its success.

After a lot of year of Twitter client clones, the company want to cut their server reasources for third part application increasing the interactions between Twitter and web contents, or between surfers and contents sites through Twitter.

What about the social media instruments connected to Twitter?
What about the Twitter cross posting on Facebook and Tumblr?
What about the Twitter login on Disqus and many other web/mobile apps?

Are they doing the right move? I hope yes, because the Twitter failing strategies could be a fail for all the digital economy that can’t monetize contents. If I don’t wrong YouTube is still losing money.

For my Twitter use and needs they should improve the multi account performances and the ashtag management. They can’t expect to become a full content aggregator because people use Twitter because won’t read more than 140 character. If they fill my twitter feed of long contents, I’ll not appreciate it.

I applied to the Seedcamp selection with TwitReporter, an application for the pay per tweet and the ashtag management. I’ve just started developing it with my dear friend Chiara de Caro, but now we’ll wait a while to understand the Twitter strategies, but if someone is interested in, you can find me here

When I arrived at home the device had low battery, but I was waiting for the shutting down when I tried to unlock it and..it was completely black! I connected it to the charger, but It didn’t give me any sign of life! I removed the battery and it started again.

Ok, it could happen, even if its strange for a device like this!

Three hours later the SIII was connected to the charger. I used it a few minutes first for uploading a picture on Facebook and then for checking mails when..it was freezed again but this time with the flashing blue led.

On Wikipedia crowdfunding is “the collective cooperation, attention and trust by people who network and pool their money and other resources together, usually via the Internet, to support efforts initiated by other people or organizations.”

I started my campaign on Indiegogo, one of the best crowdfunding platform opened to international participation. I know that Kickstarter is the most famous, but their projects are available just for americans, so I was out! I found Indiegogo after an hard comparison between some Kickstarter alternatives that gave me a good panoramic view of the web crowdfunding applications.

I started PWPC for two reasons:
1) the project itself talks about one of the biggest passion of my life, Capoeira (my group)
2) the project gives me the opportunity to experiment two important digital communication topics, storytelling and crowdfunding.

I’m opening my own digital communication agency so I hope to find new opportunities, new partners and a new professional future. I need to live innovations because I can’t help my clients just reading case histories or blog posts. I need to understand how common users reach fans telling stories and playing with them.

PWPC PROJECT
PWPC is focused on the people who practice Capoeira, not just on teachers or acrobatic movements. The workshop will host people from all over the world mashing faces, cultures, religions and traditions.

In Cesarea attendees from Brazil, France, Italy, Germany, Greece, Russia, India and obviously, Israel are already confirmed. During the event the Israeli Capoeira group will celebrate its 20th anniversary with the participation of Grande Mestre Suassuna from Sao Paulo in Brazil.

An event like this can be possible because Capoeira is not just a sport, it’s culture, music, happiness, entertainment, acrobatic and sensuality.

Capoeira is a democratic world where everyone can find his role.
In Capoeira nobody cares if you are not able to do a mortal jump or a fire kick.
In Capoeira nobody cares of your religion or your skin.
Capoeira is a well-rithmed chaos of feelings, movements and people.
People who practice Capoeira is a project about faces and experiences, not only about the sport that at least is just a part of the group life.

THE FILMING TECHNOLOGY
If Capoeira is a well-rithmed chaos of feelings, movements and people, the filming technology must follow the chaos in it.

PWPC will be filmed with a GoPro HD Hero2, the best sports-cam in the world used for extreme sport movies. I chose the GoPro because I want mash the extreme shoots of the acrobatic scenes with the moving interviews of the participants. I’ll adopt an experimental shooting approach thanks to the incredible GoPro filming technology.

Yesterday march 6 , Google announced that Android Market is replaced by Google Play.
New logo and new name for more or less the same services. In their official blog post they say:

[...]Google Play, a digital entertainment destination where you can find, enjoy and share your favorite music, movies, books and apps on the web and on your Android phone or tablet. Google Play is entirely cloud-based so all your music, movies, books and apps are stored online, always available to you, and you never have to worry about losing them or moving them again.

In my opinion Google is going to have branding problems because it’s focusing its activity on the mobile with the only one product that doesn’t have the big G brand: Android!

When they launched Android probably they didn’t expect a success like this. Today, with thousands day activations, Android is the unique OS available natively for smartphones and tablets of any price, TVs, set top boxes, car entertainment systems and probably other devices that I’m forgetting.

When Google will mash Chrome/Chromium and Android will be the world’s OS leader, surpassing Microsoft and Apple. In a near future Google will control the fruition platform of a lot of the internet devices in our daily life, except the gaming devices (for now). The best way to earn from this leader position is selling contents/services to consumer and business markets.

In these years Google built the perfect market.
It started from the www content indexing paid from AdWord. Then it offered for free services like Gmail, Gmap, Greader, Ganalytics, Gdocs, Gbooks, Blogger [etc] retaining users with their personal data, and contemporaneously selling business services versions to the small/medium companies. He bought the most important content site ever, YouTube, improving the video distribution on the web. Then Google integrated all these services in a unique social Google (+) Account and in a mobile OS: Android.
Android today can aggregate all the Google services and contents in a big variety of devices, but where’s the problem of this perfect market?

The problem is that the Google’s biggest selling channel is branded Android, not Google!

In this way BigG is wasting all his brand power exactly when it should be trusted from his consumers to sell products that others are already selling from iTunes, Xbox/Zune/Windosw8, Amazon Store or PlayStation Network.

The little Android mascote is so cute. Google can’t kill him, but can delete him from the money cloud cave of the future, the ex Android Market.

All together say hello to the rainbow triangle of Google Play.
